Victoria is performing several Italian Futurist sintesi (short plays) that she translated over 35 years ago (!) for the seminal book Italian Futurism Performance written by her then-husband Michael Kirby that included her translations of manifestos and sintesi. Several institutions in San Francisco are celebrating the 100th anniversary of F.T. Marinetti’s Futurist Manifesto, including the Italian Institute of Culture, where she performed Education during the opening of a Depero exhibit on October 14, and Brava Theatre, where she performs in eight sintesi three times on Sunday, October 18. She says, “Little did I think I’d being doing performance art again. If I had known I’d been performing some of the sintesi, I might have translated them a bit differently, to make speaking the lines easier!.”

Current Exhibit buy Para Halu The World Of Peace mp3

Victoria Kirby uses pieces of nature in her printmaking process, mixing representations of trees, leaves, pods and insects with organic materials printed in relief. Victoria experiments with varying textures by the use of grasses, leaves, lace, bubble-wrap and other materials to make plaster plates, and juxtaposing these with detailed imagery on etching plates. Part scientific botanical study, part playful organic abstraction, Victoria’s observations of nature are thorough and beautifully rendered, appealing to aficionados of both illustrative and relief printmaking.

…Check out the gorgeous lobby art display titled “Paper and Cloth Transformed II.” The colorful collection of works by Victoria Kirby … provide colorful geometrics in pieces large and small. Kirby’s new works overflow with nature-driven images.
